Great fuel economy and horsepower don't always go hand in hand, but what if you want to have your cake and eat it too?  2011-2014 Ford Mustang models with 3.7 liter V6 engines provide a great balance between these two valuable characteristics along with the ability to crank out around 300 horsepower.  In addition to the power this Mustang is said to have it also has the ability to achieve 31 MPG on the highway according to Ford.

Most car enthusiasts would appreciate a vehicle that can click off a 14 second quarter mile on Friday night at the local track and offer extra relief on the wallet after long commutes. A high performance vehicle like the new mustang V6 would most certainly benefit from the increased air flow offered by AEM's Cold Air Intake Systems part 21-8123DC and 21-8123DP.  These simple to install aftermarket direct bolt-on air intakes were custom designed to fit Ford's 2011- 2014 Mustang with 3.7L engine.

The engineers at AEM Intakes have designed the 21-8123DC and 21-8123DP to unleash the true capability of the 3.7 liter engine by reducing intake restriction and feeding it cool outside air.  This results in increased horsepower and torque. The intake design was tested on a dynamometer and showed an estimated gain of 6 horsepower and 9 ft./lbs. of torque at 3500 rpm. This provides extra horsepower that's there when you need it.

AEM uses high quality materials that are made to last. AEM air intakes come with a lifetime limited warranty. AEM's 21-8123DC and 21-8123DP intakes include a washable reusable Dryflow® air filter (part 21-2145DK) made from a blend of synthetic materials that offers outstanding filtration to protect your engine from dirt and debris. The air filter's durable non-oiled construction makes it easy to clean and get back in use fast.

These two AEM intake systems come with different finishes. Part number 21-8123DC has a tube with a sleek gun metal gray powder coated finish and part number 21-8123DP offers a vacuum metalized chrome-like finish that is highly resistant to fading and scratching from normal wear and tear.

Both of these cold air intake systems come with a custom air box that isolates the Dryflow air filter from the hot engine air. This allows cooler air to enter your engine through the factory cool air inlet. Cooler air means more power and performance.

No longer will you need to worry about when it is time to clean your air filter. AEM's 21-8123DC and 21-8123DP include an AEM restriction gauge, which indicates when it's time to clean your Dryflow air filter.

Formula DRIFT Round 6 After Dark was a hot event in Las Vegas, both in temperature and in racing action. Temperatures over the weekend soared to over 110 degrees during the day and a freak rain storm on Friday caused some excitingly variable track conditions. However, drift fans weren't swayed by the staggering heat and the stands were packed on Friday and Saturday as crowds flocked to Las Vegas Motor Speedway for some After Dark action. Cars topped 100 miles per hour heading into the top-speed first corner before slinging sideways into dramatic, smoky drifts under the stars and lights.

AEM Sponsored Need for Speed Papadakis Racing slid into Round 6 with aggression and passion coming off of their first podium finish of the season in Round 5 in Monroe, WA. The team and driver Fredric Aasbo were firing on all cylinders and Aasbo's strong qualifying run put their 2011 Scion tC square in the middle of the pack. Next, the 2010 Rookie of the Year edged out rival Matt Field in the Top 32 to set the stage for a Need for Speed match-up with teammate and top qualifier Matt Powers. Everything was looking strong for Aasbo after a fine follow run, but he sought an aggressive line during his lead run that saw him forced to come to a near stop on the course - taking heavy scoring penalties.

"We were looking to really bring the heat to Las Vegas - especially after landing on the podium at the last round," said Aasbo. "We ended up gambling a little bit, though, and it didn't go our way." Even so, it was another good weekend for the team with a flawless performance from the AEM sponsored Need for Speed Scion tC - a brand-new car built by Papadakis Racing for the 2011 season.

The 2011 Formula DRIFT season has been a great season for the Papadakis Racing crew despite only yielding one podium finish to date. Aasbo finished the championship's first round in the Top 8, debuting the new car to a strong result on the Streets of Long Beach. He earned a Top 16 finish on the challenging Road Atlanta course for Round 2, creating one of the most memorable moments of the weekend when one run saw him enter the high-speed first turn nearly backwards at a speed of 94 mph. Round 5 saw the young driver take his first overall podium and the team have their sights on holding nothing back at Title Fight in Irwindale, California, October 7th and 8th.

"I am 100 percent focused on learning the limits of the car so that we can bring out our full potential for the last round of the season," said Aasbo. "We have proven that we can be a podium contender, but my goal is to prove that every time!"

Drift fans won't want to miss the exciting conclusion to the 2011 Formula DRIFT season at Toyota Speedway in Irwindale, California, October 7th and 8th. Fredric Aasbo almost eliminated 2010 Formula DRIFT champion Vaughn Gittin Jr. in Irwindale last year and they're looking to podium again this season. The last stop of the season is just around the corner and every driver is going to be leaving it all on the track!

JB's Power Centre Canadian Diesel Nationals at Castrol Raceway Near Edmonton Canada

The Dodge Ram was a very popular race vehicle at the event.
Early on a beautiful Saturday, competitors and spectators adjourned at Castrol Raceway on the outskirts of Edmonton Canada for the for some good old fashioned diesel drag racing. Plenty of bug repellant, refreshments, and good spirits were the only defense from the swarms of mosquitos. The event kicked off with the Canadian anthem and plumes of black smoke bellowing out of the massive diesel exhaust pipes. AEM happened to be a proud vendor with the privilege to enjoy such a great event. For those who have not experienced a Diesel Drag race, a strong recommendation goes out for you to attend one of these events.

A Top Diesel drag truck may not be as loud as a Super Comp dragster, but can certainly click off a high eight second pass. It is quite interesting watching a diesel truck that weighs around 7,000 pounds wind up the turbo and let it rip. It's a scene like something in a magic show. Before each run, black smoke surrounds the starting line and before you know it, two behemoth one ton diesel trucks cross the finish line at over 120 miles per hour.

Between the rounds an organized burnout competition began with a select few contenders. The first truck to light the tires emitted a great plume of pink smoke. As surprising as pink smoke would seem, the Amsoil judges did not seem too impressed. The second contestant came to the line and won the judges over scoring a perfect 30 in an old beat up 70's Dodge Ram with steel wheels and a set of used tires on the rear.
There is no lack of diesel engine and tire smoke at these events especially when the "Smokin' Gun" is around.

There is no lack of diesel engine and tire smoke at these events especially when the "Smokin' Gun" is around. This old school Kenworth consistently lays down 60 foot burnouts before every run. The 3000 plus horsepower monster turns out 12 second passes with the help of twin turbo chargers, a super charger, and a wild shot of nitrous. This truck is nothing spectacular considering it can devour most vehicles on the street today.

Throughout the day a truck show took place in the pits. We found a few attendees with AEM intakes under the hood. They had nothing but the best to say about the product especially the increased power they felt after installation. The dry flow air filter media happens to be a great fit for turbo diesel applications.

The next event in the Pacific North West will take place at Portland International Raceway on August 20th and should definitely be on your list of attractions to see if you happen to be in the area.
