Part number 28-20141
In 1999 and 2000, GM offered a number of classic performance sedans outfitted with powerful V6 engines. The Pontiac Grand Prix, Chevy's Impala and Monte Carlo and Buick's Regal, Centruy and LeSabre are the standouts of these sedans. They offer a comfortable ride and good performance for the economically conscious driver, however, with less restriction their V6 engines can perform even better. That's where AEM's Dryflow replacement air filter, part number 28-20141, can help. AEM's 28-20141 air filter has less restriction than typical paper air filters to help your V6 run better. It is just as easy to install as the factory air filter and it offers better performance and excellent protection to your engine.

The 28-20141 replacement air filter uses both depth loading and structural screen wire to enhance airflow capabilities. AEM Dryflow air filters are engineered to enhance your engine's performance by reducing restriction, which can allow your engine to produce more horsepower. AEM's 28-20141 Dryflow air filter material provides excellent engine protection for the life of your vehicle and the air filter is backed by AEM's Lifetime Limited Warranty.

AEM Dryflow air filters like the 28-20141, are washable, reusable and can be used up to 50,000 miles before cleaning is needed, depending on driving conditions. This air filter does not require oil, so cleaning is a breeze and can be done with AEM synthetic air filter cleaner in a matter of minutes.

Having previously shown a project car at SEMA, Hydroholics LLC. president/owner, Eric Towne, and co-owner, Leslie Towne eagerly got the ball rolling on their 2012 SEMA build.

Some project car builders incorporate extreme modifications to their undertaking. To the contrary, Hydroholics had a conviction to abide by the adage "Less is more" as their scheme. "We just really wanted to have a car that was clean and simple," explained Eric Towne. "Nothing too wild. But it would still stand out from the others."

Lacking the resources to physically embark upon the project themselves, the team opted to sponsor the 2011 Hyundai Genesis Coupe and turn to those whom they considered the best-of-the-best in their fields to actually execute the build.

"We have some of the best shops here in Arizona build the vehicles," stated Townes. "This is actually only my second year going to SEMA, and it takes some time preparation to get everything ready for your vehicle."

Immediately upon leaving the dealership, the car became the focus of the needed modifications to meet Hydroholics standards and aspirations. The first item on the agenda was an exhaust system. That in mind, they turned to ARK Performance cat back exhaust to perform the task with confidence.

Although this was only their second SEMA build, the crew at Hydroholics was perfectly aware that it was essential for their project to please the eye. Working with Vossen, they came up with 20x10.5" and 20x9" wheels to promote a look of beauty and performance.

Hydroholics is proud of the fact that they supply one of the top of the line hydraulic suspension parts on the market, and would certainly add their know-how and service to the project. The hydraulic system they chose to install consisted of a two-pump, eight-dump setup, and two kinetic batteries. "This feature is what gets most of the attention on the car," ensured Towne. "

With the mechanical modifications finalized, Eric and Leslie Towne focused on providing the ride with an impressive sound system. Dropping the vehicle off at Level 10 Audio and Performance, they were pleased with the results. The company installed a pair of 10" JL Audio subs, and built and installed a custom stereo system in the trunk.

Eager to enhance the looks of the car's body the Hydroholics crew turned to BC Auto Body to make a few needed modifications. The largest project pertaining to the exterior of the vehicle consisted of shaving the trunk. With that under their belts they wrapped up the aesthetics by painting some interior pieces, and accented a few pieces under the hood.

Speaking of "under the hood", the Townes opted to make a mechanical modification there as well. "We went with the AEM intake," recalled Eric Towne. "We knew it would produce some impressive horsepower and sound best with the ARK exhaust. I experienced my first AEM product about seven years ago on my Chevy crew cab. I've loved them ever since," he continued. AEM offers some of the best products for any vehicle and will last many years."

With the SEMA show barely in their rear view mirror the fruit of their labors have just begun to come to fruition. In fact, having only displayed the car at one show, they were awarded with first in class and best hydraulics.

Although Eric and Leslie Towne wowed the crowds at the 2012 SEMA in Las Vegas, Nevada, they still have plans to make even more modifications to the their Hyundai Genesis Coupe in the future.

"We plan on displaying the car at many more shows throughout the years, "explained the car owners. "And we hope to receive more awards. Our goal for the upcoming years is to finish the interior, and add some more performance under the hood. Once the project is complete, we are planning to do a photo shoot of the car."

AEM Induction Attends 2012 SEMA Show with Well Received New Products Showcase

The 2012 AEM SEMA booth displayed the latest products such as strut bars and exhaust kits
AEM Induction made a grand display recently at the 2012 SEMA show in Las Vegas, Nevada. As one of the leading aftermarket performance air intake and air filter manufacturers in the industry, AEM Induction’s booth was a showcase for new product lines and one of the hottest Scion FR-S models on the strip.

"The SEMA show this year is a great experience," reported Katie Thomason, an AEM product specialist. "So many people at the show are really excited to see the new product lines that AEM is coming out with, like the exhaust systems and strut bars for the 2013 Scion FR-S. This is my second time at the SEMA show and being here representing AEM Induction, as well as being with our custom FR-S is something that I have really been looking forward to all year."

Katie walked through some of the new product lines offered from AEM Induction including

high performance strut bars, AEM stealth exhaust systems, and complete intercooler systems with charge pipes. "Many of the new product lines are designed for applications that can really benefit from high quality performance parts, like the 2012 Mitsubishi Evolution X, Hyundai Genesis Coupe, or the Scion FR-S and Subaru BR-Z."

AEM strut bars help to correctly stabilize the tops of the struts by tying them together using 1-1/2" steel tubing. This extra strong, but low weight strut bar can also reduce noise vibration, which is crucial for getting the best handling both on and off the track, which is perfect for controlling strut tower tops and camber settings. "When you’re pushing hard, the last thing you want is the vehicle to handle unpredictably," said Katie. "Stabilizing the suspension is important for consistent handling and many other bars have a hinged design and offer less support than a solid bolt-on design like AEM."

AEM didn’t spare on the tech details when showing off their stealth exhaust systems designed for select years of the Kia Soul, Honda CR-Z, Hyundai Genesis Coupe and the Scion FR-S/ Subaru BR-Z.

Designed to meet strict OEM standards, AEM stealth exhausts are constructed out of durable stainless steel. They have clean understated tips and create a sporty sound without the annoying drone prevalent in many aftermarket exhaust systems. "These systems are also street legal in all 50 states for certain vehicles and come with a sound test report to verify compliance with any local sound regulations," reported Katie.

"If you have a 2010-2012 Evo X or Genesis Coupe with a 2.0 liter engine, then you are definitely going to want to install AEM’s intercooler system," stated Katie.

Designed using computational fluid dynamics (CFD), AEM intercoolers are a perfect modification for more power and performance.

With all these new products for some of the most popular vehicles to hit the streets, AEM has really stepped up to the plate to meet the market’s need for more innovative performance mods. AEM continues to stick with its core lines of high quality intake systems and replacement Dryflow air filters. Be sure to keep your eye out for new innovative designs and increased horsepower gains produced for late model vehicles in the near future.

John Butiu Shows Off his 2005 Infiniti G35 Coupe Featuring AEM Induction Components

John Butiu's G35 is as stunning as the view from atop a mountain
John Butiu's G35 is as stunning as the view from atop a mountain
Custom Car designer and modifier John Butiu is well versed in taking OE and making it the envy of all who lay eyes on his new creations. Originally from Kennewick, Washington, Butiu now lives in Manhattan Beach, California, with one of the cleanest and unique Infiniti G35 Coupe's on the west coast.

"I've had this car as my daily driver for 7 years and decided to modify it slowly so I can enjoy it instead of getting tired of it and moving on to another car," stated Butiu. "I try to look for mods that will stand out from the rest and chose rare mods like an authentic Top Secret Carbon Fiber Hood from Japan, Authentic Kuruma front bumper, and custom one of a kind rear bumper which I helped design." "My first mods were of course, lowering springs, tint, and a nice set of 20" HRE 540R wheels, chrome lip and brushed aluminum face, which you usually find on Porsches, Lambos, and Ferraris. I wanted a set of wheels which I can enjoy and not have to buy a new set every few years."

When asked about his inspiration and how he got into customizing and designing cars, John noted his education at the Art Center College of Design, majoring in Transportation Design/Car Design. With a formal education and a love for custom cars, Butiu was able to put all available knowledge, skills and contacts into designing his Infiniti.

"The full interior color change was also put together by Chuy's Auto Interior in Carson with the help of Randy Riggs. I created a 3D model using Maya Software of the full interior so I can show the shop how I wanted it to look. I also textured and rendered it in the materials from leather, suede, and painted pieces to show the different materials, as well as indicate where all the custom double stitching would go. We used suede, perforated suede, leather, color matched parts, seat belts, and super soft Porsche carpeting/floor mats." "I also had the entire engine bay polished, chromed, holes filled, stainless steel braided hoses, as well as a full wire tuck and color matched parts as well," reported Butiu. His G35 Coupe even includes simple details like having a custom polished intake modified so that the Mass Air Flow sensor is hidden away from view to create a clean look, along with an AEM filter which was included, "because I like the idea that it is easily washable and no oiling needed."

"I also had the finishing touches of a Stoptech BBK (color matched), Tanabe Z40 coils, sways, and a complete trunk audio sound system designed by me and good friend, Randy Riggs, build by Randy, materials by Chuy's Auto Interior, audio components by Newport Auto Sound, and Font Template by stickertome.com." Butiu, a member of the R-Rydes Car Club has been seen with the 2005 G35 Coupe at these events:

Hot Import Nights (LA, Pomona, Anaheim, San Mateo, Las Vegas, AZ), Motion Auto Show (Long Beach), SpoCom (Anaheim), Extreme Autofest (San Diego), IDRC and will hopefully be going to future big shows such as Sema.

AEM- "What drew you to this specific model? Why an '05 Infiniti?

Butiu- "The clean design and flowing lines of the Infiniti G35 coupe, which will be a classic design. I have been keeping my eye on the G35 coupe (aka Skyline 350GT in Japan) since its creation in 2003 and bought one in 2005. The exterior, interior, and engine are very well put together and very tuner friendly, with hundreds of aftermarket parts to choose from."

AEM- Regarding the unique styling and look of the vehicle, why did you choose it?

Butiu- "All the lines flow as if it were drawn with simple brush strokes from front to back. The proportions of the car as well as being a 6 cylinder RWD helped as well. I love the headlights so much, I had it modified by clearcorners.com with LED's all along the clearance strip and headlights. I wanted something different from your usual sports cars out there, I wanted something that had a unique, timeless look. That's why I chose a 2005 G35 Coupe in the Lakeshore Slate color, which is rarely seen, as opposed to the red, black, silver, white, or gun metal."

Clean side of the 28-20248 Ford Super Duty 7.3L diesel air filter
It was in 1982 that Ford began equipping its Ford F-Series trucks with diesel engines. At that time Ford used the International Harvester IDI indirect injection engine and later changed to the Navistar diesels.

The indirect injection diesel engine that International developed displaced 6.9 liters and generated 170 horsepower and 315 foot-pounds of torque. The 7.3-liter Power Stroke followed in 1987, and it was never made available for F-150 models, but rather for the Super Duty trucks, including the chassis/cab F-450s with dual rear wheels. From model years 1987 to 1991, the 7.3-liter version developed 180 horsepower and 345 foot-pounds of torque. Varying configurations of this 7.3-liter Power Stroke diesel with differing horsepower and torque specs were commanding the roads until the 2003 model.

Any of the F-Series Trucks listed below can benefit from replacing the existing factory installed air filter with an AEM 28-20248 Dryflow air filter. This is accomplished by combining the most successful elements of reusable air filter technology into an exclusive Dryflow media that improves air flow. Excellent engine protection can also be expected due to the depth loading characteristics implemented in the 28-20248 design. Installation is identical to the outline in your vehicle owner's manual and no modifications of any kind are required.
Dirty side of the 28-20248 Ford Super Duty 7.3L diesel air filter
Dirty side of the 28-20248 Ford Super Duty 7.3L diesel air filter

Plus, being that this replacement panel filter is washable and reusable, it will be the last filter you'll ever buy for your F-Series truck. Also, 28-20248 can be run for up to 50,000 miles before cleanings required, depending on driving conditions. When it is time to clean your air filter, you can simply apply AEM's synthetic cleaner to help dissolve and loosen dirt then rinse the dirt and grime away with water. Allow the filter to dry, and you're set.

With proper maintenance, the 28-20248 air filter has the potential to last longer than the vehicle you put it in. That is why AEM backs 28-20248 with a Lifetime Limited Warranty.
