Settling for the easy path, or doing what's right, are two separate roads, and astutely Brian Camacho keeps his focus on the latter. It's a way of thinking he exercises in his life, and his life's passion - car modding. Camacho is a fulltime student, a crowdfunding campaigner and a bona fide member of Team Hybrid Las Vegas Chapter, and his notion of car modifying begins with a bare frame and working up from there.

"I joined Team Hybrid in April 2013 and I debut my newly finished 92 Honda Civic Si May 5th 2013, at the Import Face Off in Las Vegas, and since then a lot has changed for me," confesses Camacho. "My first show with Team Hybrid was an unforgettable experience. They are a very welcoming team and one thing I noticed right away, was their appreciation for the build, regardless what car it was."

After his first show Camacho went on to represent Team Hybrid in several California shows on his own dime and his Honda was immediately a huge hit, earning him three first place trophies, six corporate sponsors, and a photo shoot with a "well known magazine." "It's all been a life changing experience," says Camacho.

Camacho bought his car as a rolling shell in 2012, but he had been collecting various parts since 2009. "I started by first building a roll cage with my friend, Jesse Hanna," he explains, "We wanted to build a cage with style and something different from what you see in most Hondas. The cage design was inspired by drift style cages, with A and B pillar gussets plates and door gusset plates. I started to go for a full race build, but after few series of events I changed how I wanted to build the car."

Not willing to settle for an easy rebuild Camacho sold some of the parts he'd collected and began searching for parts that better fit his vision. By March of 2013 he had gotten the body ready for paint, finished shaving the engine bay, and got the cage all finished up.

"I decided to go with a custom color which I have had in mind for a couple of years, a custom mix of a gold/green pearl, which I call Lemon Quartz Pearl. I painted the car myself and most of the work on the car, except the body work and roll cage, was done by me." Camacho worked inch by inch on his car, after school and on weekends, and within a month he had it running and nearly completed. "Minor details were still in the works," he adds.

In May of this year Camacho attended the Eibach Honda Meet in Lake Elsinore, California and it was there that he met AEM's George Hsieh, and began the relationship that now has him representing the company.

"Due to the type of motor I am running, which is a considered a hybrid-swap, because the H22 motor comes from a Honda Prelude, which is connected to an Acura Integra GSR transmission by an adapter plate from QSD, and the chassis is a Honda Civic," details Camacho. "The most compatible AEM intake was made for Acura Integra Type-R; it is a polished Cold Air Intake (part # 21-412P). Another AEM product I am using is from your Electronic Division. The AEM air/fuel wideband. As soon as I installed the intake I immediately felt a difference in performance. I felt an increase in engine response, and also the sound at higher RPM's in V-tec has a nicer sound to it, which I enjoy."

Camacho has been modifying cars since he was 17 and he's had to display plenty of perseverance along the way. His first project car, a 92 Honda Civic hatchback, was stolen in 2009 after he had already invested a good deal of time and effort into it. "It was a horrible feeling," he says. "But but then shortly after that is when I started piecing parts together for the motor I am currently using in my car, so things worked out."

"My next goal is trying to get into the SEMA Convention in Las Vegas," continues Camacho. "Depending on my schedule, I'd also like to attend the Formula Drift event here in Vegas in October."

Camacho will be displaying his Lemon Quartz Pearl Honda in November at the Import Face Off in Las Vegas. "I would like to thank AEM for sponsoring me and letting me represent your company. All of this is amazing, but wouldn't be possible without my team, my sponsors, and all the people that have supported me."

Brian Camacho's Awards to date include:
1st Place Best Honda - SpoCom Consumer and Tradeshow at the Anaheim Convention
1st Place Best Civic - Extreme Auto Fest at the Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego
1st Place Best Honda - End of Summer Showcase in Las Vegas (with over 250 cars in attendance)

Chris Forsberg Collects Third Podium Finish in a Row at Formula Drift Round 6: Showdown

Chris Forsberg says his AEM supported NOS Energy Drink/Hankook tire Nissan 370Z is absolutely the best car he has ever driven
Chris Forsberg says his AEM supported NOS Energy Drink/Hankook tire Nissan 370Z is absolutely the best car he has ever driven
Ten years into it, and driving sideways continues to exponentially seize fans that demand more than just left turns for their motorsport dollars. 2103 marks the end of the first highly successful decade for the Formula Drift series, and devotees can't get enough of the fevered competition, the literally smoking hot cars with tires beguilingly pleading for traction, and the invariable public teasing with imminent pandemonium.

It's undeniable that drifting and series' like Formula Drift have had an enormous impact on the global car culture, and along the exceedingly sharp leading edge cutting into the next decade is one of the founding drivers, Chris Forsberg. Forsberg added a third place podium finish to his collection last weekend at Formula Drift oRound 6: Showdown. Texas Motor Speedway hosted the highly anticipated event under the night sky. It was the first time since 2005 that the Formula Drift series has competed in the Lone Star state. And the new track lived up to the hype as one of the fastest drift tracks on the circuit, and one of the most technically demanding for tandem drifting.

The consolation round saw Patrick Mordaunt in his Lexus SC430, pitted against point leader Forsberg, in his AEM supported NOS Energy Drink/Hankook tire Nissan 370Z. Forsberg won the battle for third place, but he dropped to second place overall in the Pro Championship standings, with only 15.5 points separating him from the leader heading into the final round. The podium finish in Texas was his third in a row and his fourth overall for the 2013 season.

"I am so happy to have earned another podium finish!" Forsberg remarked. "The team was flawless and the car ran perfect all weekend. I cannot wait to see what happens at the Irwindale Speedway!"

Forsberg came to Texas hot, having just won round 5 up in the Great Northwest. His consistently hard charging attack at Evergreen Speedway in Monroe, Washington dominated the field and enthralled the rabid Seattle area fans.

"The win could not have been achieved without the hard work and persistence of the Chris Forsberg Racing crew," said Forsberg after his win at Evergreen. "This is Brian Wilkerson and Ray Shake's first win in Formula Drift and it's much deserved. In less than two years since their debut in professional drifting, they have built one of the best cars in an ultra-competitive field."

The addition of chassis engineer, Scott Davidson as Forsberg's spotter, and the crew's eye in the sky, has made it possible for Forsberg to have what he says is "absolutely the best car I have ever driven."

"I would say that the Seattle event was the highlight of our 2013 season. We have been very successful at that track and knew that we had a good chance to take home the win," added Forsberg. "Following through with that gave the team and me a boost in confidence for the rest of the year."

Heading into the final round, Forsberg also draws increasing self-belief from his crew, which can't be discounted.

"It is very important to know that your car is 100%. So much of the event revolves around the car's performance and the team's ability to keep it on track and consistent. Having that peace of mind can give a driver a great advantage."

Irwindale Speedway, the "House of Drift" in Irwindale, California is the legendary venue that gave drifting its roots in the states. The infamous course, which utilizes part of the short oval track and many inside turns, is the home track for most of the drivers, creating the ultimate setting for intense battles to earn the right to wear the coveted crown as Formula Drift Champion.

The Chris Forsberg Racing crew is a pumped-up and prepared to leave their mark on the 2013 FD season in a big way.

"I am feeling very confident that we can dissect the track and find the line faster than most of the teams," says Forsberg.

Round 7 - The Formula Drift Championship final - at Irwindale Speedway October 11 and 12, 2013.
