The Mini has a long and illustrious history dating back to 1959. The Mini has been so influential in the automotive industry that it can be considered an English equivalent of the German Volkswagen Beetle, or the Italian Fiat 500. The original Mini was designed for the British Motor Corporation (BMC) by famed car designer Sir Alec Issigonis. John Cooper, owner of the Cooper Car Company and builder of race cars, was friends with Sir Alec Issigonis. John Cooper saw the potential to create a performance car out of the Mini and after appealing to BMC management the Mini Cooper and Mini Cooper S were born in 1961.

Advanced Engine Management (AEM) is also a pioneer in the automotive performance aftermarket tracing its roots back to 1987. In 1994 AEM developed one of the first packaged cold air intake systems and helped mold the future of bolt on performance products. This spirit of ingenuity has been passed along through AEM over the years and can be seen in the innovative AEM cold air intake configuration for the 2011, 2012, and 2013 Mini Cooper S, Mini Cooper S Clubman, and Mini Cooper John Cooper Works models with 1.6 liter turbocharged engines. Available as a do-it-yourself install and upgrade, the 21-721C AEM cold air intake is a twist on functional and stylish intake engineering.

The Mini Cooper Cold Air Intake 21-721C transforms the phony OEM hood scoop into a functional source of cold air as well as retaining use of the OEM fresh air duct. Bringing in cooler outside air can result in more power. The AEM 2011-13 Mini Cooper S, Mini Cooper S Clubman, and Mini Cooper John Cooper Works cold air intake design features an AEM Dryflow Air Filter for low restriction without compromising engine protection. The 21-721C Mini Cooper S cold air intake AEM dry filter 21-2037D-HK is washable and reusable. AEM dry filters use a synthetic filter media and do not require oil which allows for quick, easy cleaning. A Filter Minder gauge is included with the Mini Cooper S cold air intake to indicate when it's time to clean the washable AEM Dryflow air filter.

"Excellent air inlet temperature management ensures consistent and reliable power," says product engineer John Concialdi. "In the 21-721C the fake OEM hood scoop is converted into a real performance feature that ducts ambient air directly to the intake air filter box. A high temperature silicone foam gasket seals the scoop duct to the air filter box preventing hot engine compartment air from entering the intake and the OEM lower air duct is also retained for maximum flow to the intake system."

A rotationally molded air intake tube was utilized to direct cool intake air smoothly from the new AEM 2011, 2012, and 2013 Mini Cooper S, Mini Cooper S Clubman, and Mini Cooper John Cooper Works air filter box, through the AEM Dryflow air filter and then into the turbocharger. Computational fluid dynamics were used to help optimize the size and number of pleats on the AEM Dryflow air filter and to help determine the size of the cross-linked polyethlyene intake tube for mid-range torque gains and increased high-end horsepower. Flow bench testing helped validate that the 21-721C AEM cold air intake design provides superior airflow over the factory air filter box.

AEM made sure the system would last the life of the car. A high quality, high-temperature material was chosen for the air box and hood scoop. The included heat shield is placed between the turbocharger and air intake for additional heat protection. The entire AEM cold air intake, as well as the AEM Dryflow air filter is backed by the AEM limited lifetime warranty.

Dyno testing on the 21-721C cold air intake shows an estimated gain of 6 horsepower @ 5650 RPM and an estimated increased in torque of 9 ft-lbs @ a mere 2710 RPM. The 21-721C cold air intake system is a perfect upgrade for any Mini enthusiast looking to add more power and better performance to their little Cowley, Oxford built British sports coupe. AEM Performance Suspension Strut Bar Builds upon Legendary Mini Cooper Cornering

AEM Performance Strut Bar, 29-0005 or 29-0005R, is designed to heighten the driving experience, and fit with AEM cold air intake systems for 2007-2013 Mini Cooper
AEM Performance Strut Bar, 29-0005 or 29-0005R, is designed to heighten the driving experience, and fit with AEM cold air intake systems for 2007-2013 Mini Cooper

Most car or truck enthusiasts picture a cold air intake system when they hear the name AEM. AEM Induction Systems has made great headway and built its reputation on cold air induction systems, but since 1987 Advanced Engine Management (AEM) has been in the business of improving performance. More power is only one aspect of the driving equation. Being able to properly control horsepower in the nimble 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2013 Mini Cooper models equipped with an AEM cold air intake system is crucial to solving the performance equation.

When a car equipped with a McPherson Strut suspension system, like the 2007-2013 Mini Cooper, is being driven through a turn there is inherent flex in the strut towers and chassis. It’s not uncommon to experience as much as 1/8” of shift in the strut towers during hard cornering. This flex can result in unpredictable handling of the car. An effectively designed strut tower brace, like those from AEM, will transfer the load incurred by shifting weight between the two strut towers and reduce the effects of chassis flex. The end result is tighter handling and more precise cornering.

Unfortunately, many of the aftermarket strut tower braces available have a hinged design and therefore offer little support to the strut towers. An effective strut tower brace, like those from AEM, must be rigid throughout its length. Additionally, strut tower braces on the market for a Mini Cooper will interfere with an AEM cold air intake system. This is where AEM Induction Systems factors the 29-0005 and 29-0005R performance strut tower braces for 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2013 Mini Cooper models into the equation.

AEM performance strut bars are an excellent bolt on solution to the issue of strut tower flex in the 2007-2013 Mini Cooper. AEM performance strut tower braces are constructed using thin wall mild steel tubing for a good strength to weight ratio. They are built with a rigid design to effectively tie the two strut towers together. Best of all AEM designed the 29-0005 and 29-0005R performance strut to be compatible with the unique AEM Mini Cooper cold air intake systems. AEM performance strut tower braces will not interfere with the AEM cold air intake systems 21-699C,and 21-721C for 2007-2013 Mini Cooper models.

The AEM performance strut bar, number 29-0005 or 29-0005R, is designed as a bolt on chassis upgrade for the 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2013 Mini Cooper and reuses OEM mounting hardware. The 29-0005 and 29-0005R performance strut bar is guaranteed to work with AEM Cold Air Intake Systems 21-699C,and 21-721C. As with an AEM cold air intake system, AEM performance strut bars are designed to last for the life of your vehicle. Constructed in the U.S.A with high quality mild steel, and protected with a choice of charcoal gray or candy red durable powdercoat finishes, AEM warrants that its performance strut tower bars will last for the life of your vehicle.

AEM Performance Strut Tower Brace, number 29-0005 or 29-0005R, will boost the driving experience of the following Mini Cooper models:

AEM Develops More Power and Better Performance for 2013 and 2014 Dodge Dart Turbo

AEM Cold Air Intake 21-722C and 21-722P for the Dodge Dart turbo relocates the air filter outside of the engine compartment for a cool, fresh, and denser air source
AEM Cold Air Intake 21-722C and 21-722P for the Dodge Dart turbo relocates the air filter outside of the engine compartment for a cool, fresh, and denser air source

The 2013 and 2014 Dodge Dart is the auto manufacturer’s first compact car since the Dodge Neon was discontinued back in 2005. The new generation Dodge Dart is based on a Fiat platform that has been widened and given a longer wheelbase. Further Fiat technology was imported by the Chrysler Group to power the new Dodge Dart. The Dart’s available 1.4-liter Multiair turbocharged engine can also be found in the Fiat 500 Abarth. However, the Dodge Dart 1.4L turbo engine has been tuned to make more power than its Italian cousin.

The AEM Cold Air Intake System for the 2013 to 2014 Dodge Dart 1.4L turbo is available in either a charcoal gray or mirror-like finish to suit personal preferences
The AEM Cold Air Intake System for the 2013 to 2014 Dodge Dart 1.4L turbo is available in either a charcoal gray or mirror-like finish to suit personal preferences

The 1.4L Multiair turbo engine found in the 2013 and 2014 Dodge Dart is rated at 160 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque from the factory. While down on power when compared to other turbo compacts, like the Ford Fiesta ST or Hyundai Veloster Turbo, the Dodge Dart 1.4L turbo does beat them both in EPA rated highway MPG. Here to lessen the performance gap between the 2013 to 2014 Dodge Dart 1.4L turbo and comparable turbo compacts is AEM cold air intake 21-722C and 21-722P.

At AEM Induction Systems our engineers design our intake systems as a fully integrated component of the vehicle. Improved airflow is only part of the power equation. The 21-722C and 21-722P cold air intake systems relocate the air filter behind the front bumper to provide a cool dense source of air before being forced into the engine by the turbocharger. Cold Air Intake 21-722C and 21-722P come equipped with a non-oiled AEM Dryflow air filter, number 21-203DK, which delivers high airflow while providing excellent filtration and engine protection. The mandrel bent aluminum cold air intake tube is offered in two durable finishes to satisfy personal preference. 21-722C features a charcoal gray powdercoat finish, and 21-722P offers a bright, mirror-like finish.

All of the design features of the 21-722C and 21-722P cold air intake systems are tuned to improve horsepower and torque delivery in the lower, and most used, RPM range. On the dyno, 21-722C and 21-722P produced an estimated additional 6 horsepower at 3000 rpm and an equally important 9 pound-feet of torque at 3000 rpm over the factory system. In addition to increasing horsepower, lowering restriction and increasing airflow will reduce turbo lag and help the Dodge Dart’s turbo to spool up quicker. This in turn improves acceleration and drivability.

The 21-722C and 21-722P AEM cold air intake system is an excellent performance upgrade for your 2013 and 2014 Dodge Dart models with the Multiair 1.4-liter, 4-cylinder, intercooled and turbocharged engine. This is a complete Dodge Dart cold air intake system including all the necessary hardware and step by step installation instructions. To provide peace of mind, AEM Induction Systems stands behind its products with a Lifetime Limited Warranty.

The 21-722C and 21-722P AEM cold air intake system will provide increased performance and excellent engine sound for the following vehicles:

2014 Dodge Dart 1.4L L4
2013 Dodge Dart 1.4L L4

AEM cold air intakes for Dodge Dart models can be found on the Dodge Dart Air Intakes page. AEM performance products for other vehicles can be found using the AEM Product Search. To find an AEM dealer near you, use Search for AEM Dealer or simply visit AEMintakes.com.
