VA Series 2015 & 2016 Subaru WRX 2.0L FA20DIT AEM Air Intake Makes HP & Torque
- Dec 16, 2014
The VA series 2015 and 2016 Subaru WRX is quite a departure from previous generation WRX models. The Impreza name has been dropped completely in all markets and the WRX body has taken on a more unique look than the standard Impreza model. Most significantly changed from the outgoing 2014 WRX is the all-new 2.0L FA20DIT direct injection boxer engine with a twin-scroll turbocharger. The VA series 2015 and 2016 Subaru WRX is the first WRX to move away from the EJ-series engine. Drivability of the WRX has been improved because the 2.0L FA20DIT makes peak torque numbers twice as soon as the 2.5L EJ engine. Also worth noting is that the smaller 2.0L FA20DIT engine makes slightly more horsepower than the 2.5 EJ. New for the 2015 and 2016 WRX is a standard 6-speed manual transmission previously only available in WRX STi models. The combination of the new 2.0L FA series engine, and the six-speed manual transmission, provides the 2015 and 2016 Subaru WRX owner with a much different driving experience than the car it replaces.
AEM has a solid reputation for making Subaru WRX intake systems as the AEM cold air intake for the previous generation Subaru WRX made impressive power gains. AEM intakes has once again stepped up to the plate with AEM air intake 21-732C, and produced an amazing estimated 25 horsepower maximum increase at the wheels of an otherwise stock 2015 and 2016 Subaru WRX 2.0L. At AEM Induction Systems our engineers design our intake systems as a fully integrated component of the vehicle. Improved airflow is only part of the power equation. The 21-732C AEM intake system places the AEM Dryflow air filter toward the front of the engine compartment and with the help of the powder coated aluminum air intake tube it is able to make use of the cool dense air coming from the stock cold air intake scoop. This AEM air intake system comes equipped with a non-oiled AEM Dryflow air filter, number 21-2027DK, which delivers high airflow, excellent filtration, and exceptional engine protection. The mandrel bent aluminum air intake tube is powder coated in a charcoal gray color for durability and a factory look.
All of the design features of the AEM performance VA series 2015 and 2016 Subaru WRX 2.0L air intake system are tuned to improve horsepower and torque delivery in a usable RPM range. On the dyno, 21-732C produced an estimated additional 25 horsepower at 4,200 rpm and an equally important 30 pound-feet of torque at 4,200 rpm over the factory air filter box and air intake tubes. In addition to increasing horsepower, lowering restriction and increasing airflow will improve acceleration and drivability while allowing the twin-scroll turbocharger to spool up quicker. This boost in power is exactly what VA series 2015 and 2016 Subaru WRX 2.0L drivers need to embarrass owners of 2.5L EJ powered WRX models.
The VA series 2015 and 2016 Subaru WRX 2.0L AEM air intake system is an excellent performance upgrade for the FA20DIT direct injection boxer engine powered 2015 and 2016 Subaru WRX. This is a complete AEM air intake system including an application specific heat shield, all the necessary hardware, and step by step installation instructions. To provide peace of mind, AEM Induction Systems stands behind its products with a Lifetime Limited Warranty. The 21-732C AEM air intake system will provide increased performance and sporty engine sound for the following Subaru WRX models: 2016 Subaru WRX 2.0L Use the Search by Car or Truck tool to find additional AEM products, such as an AEM performance strut bar, for your 2015 and 2016 Subaru WRX.
