AEM Intakes Joins Clarion Builds Program as Gold Sponsor for Project Acura NSX
- Sep 4, 2015
Clarion Corporation of America and AEM Induction Systems have teamed up for the Clarion Builds program's highly-anticipated new project, the complete restoration and tasteful modification of a legendary first-year Acura NSX. As a gold level sponsor, AEM Induction Systems will be integral in equipping the icon with a specialized cold air induction system that unlocks the full potential of the modifications planned for the project's engine. AEM® brings over 20 years of import tuner heritage to the second installment of the Clarion Builds program. AEM’s Dryflow® performance air filters and cold air intake knowledge will help make the Clarion Builds' 1991 Acura NSX project a success.
"Choosing the right partners for any automotive project is essential to ensuring that the end goals set for the build are achieved," said Allen H. Gharapetian, Vice President of Marketing and Product Planning for Clarion Corporation of America and Chief of the Clarion Builds Program. "We are convinced that AEM Induction Systems' stellar reputation for designing low restriction and high-airflow induction systems makes them an ideal partner for the build. And, with that in mind, we are quite excited to work with AEM on creating a custom intake system that keeps the NSX's internal engine components protected from the elements, while unlocking hidden power."
Following the format of the inaugural Clarion Builds project featuring the complete restoration of an iconic 1974 BMW 2002, Clarion and its key partners for the NSX project, including AEM Induction Systems, aim to unite fans and fully integrate them into the program. Clarion and its partners will work to provide a great deal of detailed content designed to generate excitement and encourage fan engagement as the Acura NSX progresses through various stages of the build process. "The idea behind Clarion Builds is to take on and promote the restoration of cars that people can connect with, cars that have timeless designs, legendary performance, and a great story behind them. Our first project, the BMW 2002 exemplified all of these qualities, as does the NSX," said Allen H. Gharapetian. Restoration of the Clarion Builds 1991 Acura NSX is already underway. Soon after the announcement of Project NSX, Clarion Builds chose AutoWave Inc. as its key platinum partner to tear down and rebuild this Japanese supercar. AutoWave Inc. is based in Huntington Beach, California and specializes in Honda and Acura cars. After spinning the drums of their dynamometer to establish a baseline power reading of the well-worn 3.0-liter V6, the engine was removed to begin the tear down and rebuild process. AEM Induction Systems will follow the Clarion Builds project as it moves along and provide updates on the various AEM social media platforms as well as the aemintakes.com/news webpage.
