Since 2001, the SEMA Global Media Awards Program has been a staple of the SEMA Show - the premier automotive accessories trade event in the world. It involves bringing journalists from all over the world to the SEMA show with the purpose of identifying and discovering what new products are likely to succeed in their home countries. The participating media represent some of the industry's top magazines and the editors' opinions are highly regarded and amongst the most respected in the industry. Given their knowledge and expertise about the automotive markets in their countries, there is a high probability that the products they identify truly will resonate with consumers in their respective markets.

Specialty Equipment Marketing Association (SEMA) has bestowed three 2011 Global Media awards to AEM Induction Systems at this year's SEMA show. These awards place AEM among an elite group of companies that have received one of SEMA's highest honors. The voting panel reviewed nearly 2000 new performance and styling products that were featured at this year's show. From these products the journalists selected 10 products which they believed would be of most interest to their publications' readers and would most likely succeed in their respective countries.

Shane Chattergoon, a judge from Performance Auto and Sound in Canada, identified AEM's innovative Electronically Tuned Intake (ETI) technology when making his decision to award one of the Prestigious Global Media Awards to AEM's 21-725P and 21-725C ETI intake systems for the 2011 through 2014 Scion tC 2.5L. AEM's ETI technology eliminates the need to detune an intake tube to allow the vehicles stock MAF sensor to obtain a useable reading. Basically what an ETI system does is allow the intake tube to utilize a larger diameter intake tube in conjunction with the vehicles stock programming by electronically adjusting the readings between the MAF sensor and the engine's ECU.

"AEM has always made great products and we are the largest tuner enthusiast publication in Canada. Our readers need to know what is new and available for their Scions," Shane told AEM News. "AEM has strong distribution here and intakes are always one of the first items a tuner replaces. It's a no brainer."

In addition to the award for the ETI system, AEM received awards for the 2011 Honda CR-Z Intake, part numbers 21-700P and 21-700C, and the Mini Cooper S Intake system, part 21-699C, which were nominated by judge Mark Guest of Acclr8.

AEM continues to be an industry leader in innovative automotive intake systems and will hopefully continue to be recognized by automotive enthusiasts and publications around the world. If these awards are a sign of things to come, AEM is going to continue to grow in the aftermarket performance products market and enthusiasts should keep a close eye on AEM's offerings.
