AEM Air Intake Provides 2015 Ford F150 5.0L V8 with More Power for Improved Towing
- May 27, 2015
Ford has released the thirteenth generation F-150 for the 2015 model year. With all-aluminum body panels, as well as a new frame made of 77% high-strength steel, the 2015 F-150 has shed up to 750 lbs. Less weight means higher payload and towing capacities, more miles per gallon, and a better power to weight ratio. Performance minded drivers know that less weight and more power combine to increase the rate of acceleration. The 2015 Ford F150 5.0L, rated at 385 horsepower and 387 lb-ft of torque, is a capable of towing almost 11,000 pounds depending on the truck’s configuration. However, in about 90 minutes or less an AEM air intake system can be installed to help the 2015 Ford F-150 5.0L V8 engine with a boost in horsepower and torque for improved towing performance and better acceleration.
As is the case with the 2015 Ford F150 5.0L, the factory air intake tubing, stock air filter box, and disposable air filter is a significant point of restriction in modern fuel injected cars or trucks. AEM has developed an air intake system that eliminates the restrictive stock intake tube, sound baffling, and air filter box. By replacing restrictive factory components with a charcoal gray powder coated mandrel bent aluminum air intake tube coupled to an open element AEM Dryflow synthetic air filter an AEM intake is able to increase horsepower, torque and acceleration of 2015 Ford F150 5.0L V8 models. Additionally, the AEM air intake for 2015 Ford F150 5.0L V8 trucks, number 21-8129DC, includes an application specific air filter heat shield designed to retain the benefits of the factory cold air inlet near the truck’s front grill.
An AEM Dryflow air filter’s high-flow synthetic filter media and pleated design, along with the mandrel-bent aluminum intake tube’s smooth inner surface, helps to reduce turbulent airflow to promote more efficient combustion and increased power. The increase in airflow and reduced restriction resulting from the installation of an AEM 2015 Ford F150 5.0L air intake system 21-8129DC improves horsepower and torque output of the 2015 Ford F150 5.0L across the entire RPM range. Peak estimated horsepower and torque gains came on at 4,500 RPM when installed on an otherwise stock 2015 Ford F150 5.0-liter V8. At 4,500 RPM the AEM air intake 21-8129DC was shown to provide an estimated additional 16 horsepower and 18 lb-ft of torque at the rear wheels.
Owners of 2015 Ford F150 5.0L models shouldn’t worry that increasing performance with an AEM air intake system will put their truck at risk. AEM air intake systems and AEM Dryflow air filters are designed to provide high-airflow and increased performance without sacrificing filtration efficiency or engine protection. AEM Dryflow air filters are built with a non-woven synthetic air filter media pleated between coated wire mesh. Non-oiled AEM Dryflow air filters are designed for easy cleaning and durable service without the need for air filter oil. AEM Induction Systems stands behind its products with a Lifetime Limited Warranty. Plus the ability to wash and reuse an AEM Dryflow air filter means it will be the last air filter that 2015 Ford F150 5.0L owners will need to purchase. The AEM air intake system for the 2015 Ford F150 5.0L V8 comes complete with all the necessary hardware and step by step installation instructions.
