2016 Hyundai Tucson Owners Can Enjoy More Power and Better Sound with AEM Air Intake
- Jun 3, 2016
In many cases, your vehicle's engine is capable of making more power than advertised. What often limits power is the factory air intake system. Compromised for any number of reasons, the stock system doesn't deliver the airflow to the engine that an AEM cold air intake can.
The Hyundai Tucson is powered by Hyundai's modern Gamma engine, which is a modern design, first introduced in a concept car in 2010. Versions of the engine have been tuned to over 200 horsepower so there's plenty of room for performance improvement. The AEM 21-783C cold air intake is a relatively inexpensive modification, adding an estimated 14 horsepower and 15 ft-lb of torque to your Hyundai Tucson with a 1.6L turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine. The performance increases can be achieved via a DIY installation that takes around an hour with basic hand tools. The results of AEM dyno testing show a stock Tucson 1.6L turbo generated 163 horsepower and 171 ft-lb of torque on the chassis dynamometer. With the AEM 21-783C bolted to the test vehicle, horsepower increased to 170 hp and torque improved to 185 ft-lb. These increases in horsepower and torque come in handy, whether you're looking to blend onto the freeway a little faster or if you're towing a small boat or trailer over a mountain pass or are just driving around with a full load of passengers. The air intake system ingeniously capitalizes on the large, direct-flowing OEM intake duct so only cold, fresh, outside air can reach the air filter. Cooler air is denser, carrying additional oxygen to your engine, which adds more fuel, thus making more horsepower. The AEM 21-783C air intake system utilizes a seven-inch non-woven synthetic filter media to help protect your engine from harmful road grit. It's mounted where it can take full advantage of the fresh incoming air while a shield keeps power-robbing hot air away.
The system comes with the AEM low restriction air filter, high quality tubing and a black powder coated heat shield to help prevent hot engine air from entering the intake inlet. The AEM 21-783C air intake system come with the necessary boots, clamps, and hardware for an OEM-type appearance. The kit also accommodates all factory emissions and vacuum lines. OEM mounting brackets and hardware are utilized to allow for quick and easy installation. No need to service your filter until about 100,000 miles (depending upon your driving conditions) with an application of AEM 1-1000 synthetic air filter cleaner that loosens and dissolves dirt and grime build up on synthetic filters so they can be rinsed clean with water.
