- Oct 30, 2014
The Mazda MX-5 Miata debuted in 1989 as an affordable, modern, fun to drive roadster inspired by small British and Italian sports cars from the 1960’s. Currently in its 25th year, and third generation of production, the Mazda MX-5 Miata continues to be the best-selling two-seat convertible sports car in history. The Mazda MX-5 Miata NC is a fun to drive car, but 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2014 Mazda MX-5 Miata 2.0L owners looking to add some zoom zoom to their car by increasing horsepower, torque, acceleration, and better engine sound can do so with the installation of an AEM cold air intake system
At AEM Induction Systems our engineers design our intake systems as a fully integrated component of the vehicle. Improved airflow is only part of the power equation. The 2010-2014 Mazda MX-5 Miata 2.0L AEM cold air intake system relocates the AEM Dryflow air filter outside of the engine compartment and with the help of powder coated aluminum air intake tubes it is able to provide cool dense air for more efficient combustion. This AEM cold air intake comes equipped with a non-oiled AEM Dryflow air filter, number 21-203DK, which delivers high airflow, excellent filtration, and exceptional engine protection. The mandrel bent aluminum cold air intake tubes is offered in two durable finishes to satisfy personal preference. AEM air intake 21-729C features a charcoal gray powder coat finish, and AEM air intake system 21-729P offers a bright, mirror-like finish.
All of the design features of the 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2014 Mazda MX-5 Miata 2.0L AEM cold air intake system are tuned to improve horsepower and torque delivery in a usable RPM range compared to the factory air filter box system. In addition to increasing horsepower, lowering restriction and increasing airflow will improve acceleration and drivability. The Mazda MX-5 Miata NC is a lightweight car and increasing horsepower, even slightly, improves the power-to-weight ratio.
