2009 to 2015 Chevy and GMC Pickup Truck and SUV's Models Get Power with AEM Cold Air Intake

So, the Engineers at AEM set out to design a true cold air intake system that would flow more than the stock set-up, have lower inlet air temperatures (IAT's), and most importantly create power while still retaining stock fuel trim characteristics. To determine the area they had to work with AEM engineers removed the stock intake from a test vehicle then scanned the engine bay using a 3D scanning tool. Engineers were then able to model potential intake tube and air box designs. They determined that a roto-molded intake tube and roto-molded intake box with a sealed lid would perform well in achieving their goals. With the space available in their airbox design the engineers decided to use one of the larger air filters commonly used in diesel engine applications. The filter chosen for this project was the 21-2277DK Dryflow filter, a big 5 inch inlet oval filter which provides plenty of air flow and outstanding engine protection. This filter, like all AEM Dryflow air filters, is durable, easy to clean and requires no oil. After the overall design was finished, real world performance testing began. Part number 21-8030DC was bolted to a 2010 Chevrolet Tahoe with a 5.3 liter engine and tested on a Dynamometer. After the testing was completed on three vehicles, the intake was shown to provide an estimated increase of 10 horsepower and 10.2 ft-lbs of torque at 5100 RPM.
