Show cars featured at SEMA can be anything from a completely custom vehicle that only has a few manufactured components or a vehicle that displays the best manufactured products around. This keeps things interesting as you walk around and check out the wide array of vehicles featured in the show. For the past two years late model muscle cars have had a huge presence. Mustangs, Camaros, and Challengers could be seen where ever you turn. Sport compact vehicles seemed to have a more dominant force this year. One of the more popular vehicles for builders seemed to be the Mitsubishi EVO X. We got a chance to catch up with Peter Chaney to get the rundown on his Red EVO X.

The Lancer Evolution has been around for quite some time exploiting the advanced performance technologies offered by Mitsubishi. The EVO X comes factory turbo-charged with an all-wheel drive system. The aggressive body styling makes it a perfect candidate for performance upgrades.

Car building for Chaney began 12 years ago. He has attended SEMA 5 times and built 4 show cars in between that time. Chaney currently works at iForged/Forgestar wheels and dabbles in photography/videography. This car build was down to the wire. The biggest challenge was making sure the EVO was ready for the 4 hour drive to Las Vegas. Chaney claims he, "got the car out of the shop Friday night and drove immediately to Vegas."

Chaney has hopes of the vehicle one day becoming a track car he can beat up on weekends and then drive to work on Monday. With all the modifications it is most certainly a car that that looks great as a show car but, is still functional as a race car. In the future he plans to upgrade the turbo to push out a solid 420hp.

AEM Inductions was proud to support Chaney on this build and have kept in contact with him frequently throughout the last year. He was kind enough to display his vehicle in the AEM Inductions booth at both 2011 SPOCOM and 2011 ProMotion shows. We received great feedback from consumers on the car as a whole as well as the AEM intake system on the vehicle. Chaney believes his, "project build is pretty much what a typical tuner would do, but what makes my build a sorta unique is that I incorporated a project build website that shows the parts I've installed by using my photography and video skills. There isnt too many people out there that would take the time to actually sit and review the parts and also give feedback to the manufacturers." There is a lot of work that goes into building a show car not to mention the work that goes into attending car shows and events.

The AEM Brute Force intake system offers better air flow and superior protection for the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X. To find all AEM products for your vehicle, use the AEM Product Search link on AEMintakes.com. To find an AEM dealer use and the Where to Buy link on AEMintakes.com.
